The drive

A short drive with a few turns

It's about 12 miles and typically about 17 minutes off-peak, but it isn't a straight run. You leave on the A1101, hop onto the A11 for a moment, cut through Tuddenham and follow Higham Road, then take the A14 for the last four miles or so.

If you want a pet shop near Mildenhall and don't mind a few turns, it's a trip that fits neatly into a morning or an afternoon. The A14 part is short, about four miles, so it's over in minutes.

Directions

Getting here from Mildenhall

The top of Tut Hill is closed, so please come in this way round. If your sat nav suggests a different way, follow these directions. From the town centre:

1Leave Mildenhall on the A1101. It's Kingsway first, then Bury Road, and it's about a mile and a half to the Five Ways roundabout at Barton Mills.
2At the roundabout, take the exit onto the A11, heading south-west. You'll only be on it for a moment.
3Leave the A11 straight away, on the slip road for Tuddenham Lane.
4Follow Tuddenham Road for nearly a mile and a half into Tuddenham, where it becomes the High Street.
5At the end of the High Street, turn right onto Higham Road and follow it for a little over three miles.
6Take the slip road onto the A14 and head east, towards Bury St Edmunds, for about four miles.
7Come off the A14 at the Fornham All Saints slip road.
8Go straight over the double roundabout.
9Carry on past the new housing estate.
10Turn left at the third roundabout.
11Turn left again at the mini roundabout, onto Tut Hill. The shop is along it.
